Modern ATC systems use Medium Term Conflict Detection (MTCD) to warn Air Traffic Controllers of potential conflicts between aircraft in their sectors.

MTCDs use a computationally intensive process which limits how many aircraft they can handle. Unfortunately, this limited capacity can lead to potential conflicts being overlooked (see: AIRPROX REPORT No. 2023054).

Our patented (GB2529551A and US10777086B2) algorithm takes a different approach to conflict detection. It detects potential conflicts much more efficiently than conventional MTCDs, enabling it to handle more aircraft while overlooking fewer conflicts.

Our algorithm is designed to detect potential conflicts over an entire Flight Information Region (FIR). However, it can also improve the capacity of current MTCD systems, reducing overlooked conflicts and improving safety.
